A Weekend Seminar with Barbara McDaniel

o

''Who, What , Why?''

(Inner work to create a stable, committed Reiki practice.)

o

Friday 30th March to Sunday 1stApril 2007

o

In her own words this is how Barbara described her presentation:

The work of creating a “stable, committed Reiki practice” is not limited to public practice.  We can – must – maintain a vibrant practice at every level.

I believe that Reiki practice leads us, guides us, and that if we follow the energy, we’ll be supported – in our lives and in our work. And sometimes, for some of us, that work might include a Reiki public practice. In my own public practice, I’m called to go back to my Reiki roots, follow the energy, and feel where that takes me.

I saw “Who, What, Why?” as more of an “exploration” than a “seminar”.The practice of Reiki is intensely personal in that Reiki expresses itself uniquely through each of us.There’s no pat formula for what anyone’s personal or public Reiki practice should look like, and as a community, we are still finding our way to the public practice of Reiki. With the help of journaling exercises, and some inner probing, group sharing, we explored how we re-connected with our Reiki roots to feel our way with Reiki in a public way.

Through following the energy, we came to the questions of “Who, What and Why?”.Setting a clear and strong motivation, in alignment with your personal values and gifts was the first step.

Barbara McDaniel
Barbara McDaniel has dabbled in public Reiki practice since 1988 and has pursued it full-time for the last 11 years.  Her practice includes teaching Reiki and writing about Reiki, as well as giving treatments.  Her practice has gone up and down and up again over the years, but she has never abandoned it.  In this workshop, she will bring her Reiki practice experience, her background in facilitating the Transformation Game, and her recent study with Mark Silver of Heart of Business to develop practical tools for creating or enhancing your own Reiki practice.

'WORKING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS'

O

10 am – 4 pm Saturday 7th July 2007

Stourbridge, West Midlands

o

The Practitioner Support Programme invited

Peter Fantini to offer this one-day workshop to explore the question:

O

“How can I help someone who has a mental illness?”

O

As Reiki practitioners we are often called upon to give Reiki to people who are suffering emotional and psychological distress. We may feel insecure about treating them, due to our lack of understanding of mental health issues. How can we best respond sensitively to depression, anxiety and other presentations of emotional and psychological distress. Sometimes they may already have been diagnosed by other health carers and be on medication.

What are the implications of this for the Reiki practitioner? We explored the recognition of mental health issues requiring involvement of other professionals. Learning more about mental health is an important step in being a stable and useful public practitioner.

O

Peter Fantini is a teacher and psychotherapist who has considerable experience working in mental health. He facilitates mental health modules of learning on both MA and MSc Psychotherapy degree programmes. He is also in practice as a psychotherapist working with individuals and groups. Peter has a specific interest in working with couples and relationship. His area of study is in consciousness, its psychological and spiritual dimensions.
