The meaning of the word 'practitioner' had often been misconstrued, many thinking it only referred to those who earned their living doing Reiki, whilst in fact it included all who practised Reiki on themselves, regardless of whether they 'practised' on others. Hence, at their meeting in January, a new name was born:
At this time the team consisted ofAnnette Bunning, Milly Cain, Kate JonesandJulia Hathaway | |
We felt energised by these events, and excited about the future of the team.
At the Annual Gathering of TRA in October, we held a short session on ‘what it means to be a practitioner’, which members found really helpful. Also at the Annual Gathering, the organisation of TRA was suspended, whilst a working group looked into what worked and what didn’t work, with the aim of simplifying and energising TRA. As a result of this, the DPN team decided to suspend plans for 2009 until the future of TRA became clearer, and also agreed that, should our input be needed, we would consider standing for Council.
At the Extraordinary General Meeting of TRA on 7 March 2009 (a report of which can be found elsewhere on the TRA website), both Julia Hathaway and Kate Jones were elected onto the new Council of TRA, and as a result we stepped down from our involvement with the DPN team, with considerable regret.
So – Milly Cain is now looking for more keen and active members of the DPN team! We can send you by email the requirements for membership of the team, and would be delighted to hear from members of TRA who are ready for more involvement.
This is a unique opportunity, and you will be able to create new ways to provide events that appeal to anyone who has Reiki and who wishes to deepen and explore their practice. The events held by DPN have been designed to address ‘those people practising on themselves who wish to deepen and expand their Reiki practice’.
We look forward with anticipation to hearing from you!
